1. Statement of Intent

 

thepeopleprotectors LTD is committed to ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of our employees, contractors, clients, event attendees, and any persons who may be affected by our activities. We recognise our legal and moral responsibilities to provide safe working environments and to prevent accidents, injuries, and ill health.

We specialise in General Health and Safety, Event Safety, and Fire Safety, and our commitment is to exceed statutory obligations, applying best practice and continuous improvement across all areas of operation.

Our aims are to:


– Comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, relevant UK legislation, and industry-specific regulations.
– Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement proportionate control measures.
– Provide safe systems of work, safe equipment, and competent supervision.
– Deliver training, information, and support to ensure staff and contractors work safely and confidently.
– Promote a positive safety culture that prioritises prevention and accountability.

This policy is reviewed annually, or sooner if there are significant changes in legislation, operations, or organisational structure.

2. Organisation & Responsibilities

 

Directors / Senior Management

 

– Provide leadership and resources to implement and maintain health and safety standards.
– Ensure compliance with legal and contractual obligations.
– Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the company and client projects.
– Review incident reports and implement corrective actions.

 

Managers / Supervisors

 

– Carry out risk assessments for all activities, including event operations and fire safety planning.
– Ensure staff and contractors are trained, competent, and supervised.
– Implement emergency arrangements, including evacuation and fire response procedures.
– Monitor safety performance and report hazards or incidents.

 

Employees & Contractors

 

– Take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others.
– Follow all safety procedures, instructions, and training provided.
– Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
– Cooperate fully with incident investigations and improvement measures.

 

3. Arrangements

 

3.1 General Health and Safety

 

– Conduct site-specific risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all projects.
– Maintain safe working conditions, equipment, and welfare facilities.
– Implement manual handling, noise, working at height, and hazardous substances controls.
– Regularly inspect workplaces and record findings.

 

3.2 Event Safety

 

– Develop Event Safety Plans in line with the Purple Guide and relevant legislation.
– Assess crowd management, capacity, security, stewarding, medical, and emergency provisions.
– Ensure suppliers, contractors, and temporary structures meet safety standards.
– Monitor live event operations and adapt plans to changing circumstances.

 

3.3 Fire Safety

 

– Comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.
– Carry out Fire Risk Assessments for workplaces and event venues.
– Ensure fire detection, alarm, and suppression systems are in place and maintained.
– Train staff and contractors in fire prevention, emergency procedures, and safe evacuation.
– Design and rehearse event fire evacuation plans tailored to site layout and capacity.

 

3.4 Communication & Consultation

 

– Provide clear health and safety information to staff, contractors, and clients.
– Engage employees in consultation on safety matters.
– Share lessons learned from incidents, audits, and inspections.

 

3.5 Monitoring & Review

 

– Conduct regular audits, inspections, and performance reviews.
– Investigate all incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
– Review this policy annually and update as necessary.
